It’s Bout of Books this week (one of my favorite readathons EVER!)!!! I love the community surrounding Bout of Books, the Twitter chats, & just how fun it is! There’s no failing & any goals you set are up to you. There are daily little challenges, and those are pretty fun, too! This post will show my progress throughout the week.
Day 1: Monday
Time Read: Approximately 2 hours
Time Listened: About an hour
Pages Read: 208 pages
Finished: Macbeth by Jo Nesbo (so great!) & Logical Family by Armistead Maupin–both started prior to Bout of Books!
Currently Reading: I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai with Christina Lamb
Currently Listening: We Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union (narrated by the author)
I did pretty good for Day 1! I participated in the Twitter chat & stayed up wayyyy too late finishing Macbeth. I read for longer than my daily goal time & I’m making some good progress!
Day 2: Tuesday
Time Read: 2 hours and 46 minutes
Time Listened: 1 hour and 26 minutes
Pages Read: 225 pages
Finished Books for the whole Bout of Books: Macbeth by Jo Nesbo (so great!), Logical Family by Armistead Maupin, and I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai with Christina Lamb–all started prior to Bout of Books!
Currently Reading: The Leavers by Lisa Ko
Currently Listening: We Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union (narrated by the author)
Day 2 was even stronger than day 1! I finished I am Malala, which was super inspiring. I also started The Leavers, which I’ve had for awhile and been planning on reading. This week, I’m reading a lot of books I own that I hadn’t yet read…and it’s helping me stick to my focus on Asian Pacific American authors for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. I hope you’re all enjoying Bout of Books if you’re participating!
Day 3: Wednesday
Time Read: 45ish minutes
Time Listened: 1 hour and 4 minutes
Pages Read: 35 pages
Finished Books for the whole Bout of Books: Macbeth by Jo Nesbo (so great!), Logical Family by Armistead Maupin, and I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai with Christina Lamb–all started prior to Bout of Books!
Currently Reading: The Leavers by Lisa Ko
Currently Listening: We Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union (narrated by the author)
Day 3 was not my strongest. I stayed really late at work (yay packing up classrooms?), and grabbed dinner with a friend, so I didn’t get much read–but I stuck with the audio on my commute & I’m really enjoying it!
Days 4 & 5: Thursday & Friday
Time Read: No minutes 😦
Time Listened: 2 hours and 19 minutes
Pages Read: No pages.

Thursday & Friday were super busy for me, with a family cookout after school for our students and then Friday just generally being a busy day for me. I was just too tired to crack open my book, but I did get a good bit of audio in! I’m so looking forward to shirking my responsibilities and reading this weekend!
You’re doing really well! I haven’t read a Jo Nesbo book in ages, so might have to check out the latest one.

I love how you’re able to track the amount of time you’ve spent reading. I always either forget to turn it on the timer and miss loads of time, or I forget to turn it off and STILL have no idea how much time I read!

This has happened to me a few times–hence the “45ish” :). It’s hard to keep up! In reality, I know an estimate is good enough (or not even knowing is okay!)

I did really well the first few days–the last few—not so much ;).

I cannot wait to hear what happened over the weekend and how you wrapped things up. I love reading your updates because they help me realize how attainable these sorts of things are. I guess I must participate in Bout of Books this coming winter, hm? 😉

You definitely should!! It’s my most favorite readathon because I can cut myself a break on statistics and other things, and just read. I also can skip a day or 2 here or there & not feel bad about it! I would love to see you join!!

Done! I’ve added the August Bout of Books to my calendar. Is this quarterly? It seems to be more often than I expected!

Fascinating. I wonder why those particular months– it’s a bit odd to me how uneven it is across time. But, that’s cool. I’ll be there in August!
