Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books I Would Instantly Buy If Given a Loaded Gift Card

I LOVE the topic for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly event sponsored by the wonderful group of bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish. This week the challenge was to name at least 10 books you would buy if given a fully loaded gift card to do so. For me, this is all about editions of certain books, and complete series, with at least 1 purchase I’m currently coveting (see #1) but can’t quite bring myself to purchase yet. Without further ado, here are my Top 10 Dream Purchases.

1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J. K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, & John Tiffany

Of course, this tops my list of current new releases I can’t quite find the money to get yet. I can’t wait to read what’s become of the whole Harry Potter gang and their children in the 20 year gap between this and the last Harry Potter book. 2. The Princess Bride: An Illustrated Edition of S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure by William Goldman & Michael Manomivibul

The movie version of this book is one of my very first everlasting loves, and I didn’t particularly love the book. However, this edition looks so pretty. It’s a hardcover and includes beautiful illustrations along with the wonderful, beloved text. Someday, I will own this. Photo courtesy of Goodreads.

3. The Complete Set of Classics from Penguin’s Drop Caps Series

I just found these beautiful hardcover editions online from Penguin. The series includes 26 works of classic literature, one for each letter of the alphabet. The covers of each book are covered in an artistic design featuring the first letter of the author’s last name. 4. The Complete Set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel Season Comics by Various Authors (including Joss Whedon)

I was an avid Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fan all through high school, and still have all of the seasons on DVD of both shows. I have not, however, ever gotten around to reading the comics which continue the storylines started on each show. I figure the best way to do so would be to just buy them all and binge read them some weekend, pretending it was kind of like binge-watching on Netflix. 5. All of the Barnes & Noble Collectible Editions I Could Get! (from Barnes & Noble)

I see these beautiful editions of both old and modern classics every time I go to Barnes & Noble and silently covet them, but can never quite bring myself to get them. I’ve featured some of my favorite covers above, including The Wrinkle in Time trilogy, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Other Stories, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Photos courtesy of Barnes & Noble.com.

6. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo (Penguin Classics edition)

This book is one of my all time favorite classics, and I really love the red and black design on this edition. I would add it to my collection in a heartbeat! Photo courtesy of Amazon.

7. A box set of beautiful books from The Puffin in Bloom collection, including Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, A Little Princess, and Heidi

These books are pretty flowery, which made me unsure I liked them, but after clicking through the photos on the website, I just adored the covers. Also, these books were all favorites of mine growing up at some point or another. Beautiful nostalgia. Photo courtesy of Rifle Paper Co.

8. The Illustrated Folio Society Edition of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, illustrated by Santiago Caruso

Jane Eyre was one of my first encounters with the Bronte sisters, and remains one of my favorites. I would love to check out this edition and see how the illustrations enhance the story. Check it out here. Photo courtesy of The Folio Society.

9. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: The Illustrated Edition by J. K. Rowling, illustrated by Jim Kay

10. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Classics Reimagined version)

I loved all the covers I saw from this series, but a lot of the other books have had other editions mentioned on here. So, in a nutshell, given a very large Visa gift card I could spend anywhere, I’d stock up on illustrated versions of favorites, and lots of books with pretty covers, along with some comics. What would you spend your gift card on? Anything on my list catch your eye? Let me know in the comments!
